Mid-South Wrestling: Week of 12/24-12/30 1979
For the week ending December 30th, 1979: JYD and the Freebirds move up the cards, DiBiase returns after a three-plus year absence, Mike George continues to hold on to N.A. strap & more!
Here's a look at the talent roster along with SPOT ratings and FEUD scores for the week.
Newcomers this week were Ted DiBiase, Mike Blood, Ricky Fields and Chris Curtis. DiBiase came in from the WWWF; this was his first time back in the territory since a stint early in his career that ended in July 1976. I believe Blood is the wrestler better known as Mike Hammer; he came here after a run in Florida and a very brief stint in Central States. Fields came in from Georgia; he was a Gulf Coast mainstay and had numerous relatives in the business, including members of the Welch/Fuller clan. Curtis had been wrestling part-time in the AWA; he appears to have spent the majority of his career as a TV enhancement wrestler for the AWA and the WWF.
Charlie Cook and Igor Putski both took an extended leave from the territory over the holidays but would return early in the new year. Tom Price makes a couple of appearances over the next few weeks but is not a regular. I believe that Price was a young Tom Prichard, who next shows up in Southern California in mid-January.
