For the week ending January 9th, 1972: Vic Muehler returns as a heel for one night and one night only, Terry Garvin's manager is "gorgeous" & more!

The lone newcomer this week was Vic Muehler (aka Vic Rossitani). Vic had been wrestling here as a heel for a few months in 1971, starting in late June and staying through mid-October. He then went on a tour of Japan (with IWE). He returns this week in Oklahoma City to team with The Great Mephisto against US Tag Team champions Billy Red Lyons & Tom Jones. Lyons & Jones won the bout and it appears that Mephisto and Muehler split up, as Vic is slotted as a babyface starting next week. He spends a couple of weeks mostly facing mid-card heel Don Duffy. Reading between the lines, an angle was probably shot for TV and as it made its way through the various TV markets, Muehler was positioned in a mid-card match so as not to "give away" that he already turned but still moving him away from Mephisto in order to keep kayfabe. This is similar to how champions that lose their title on a TV taping are booked only in non-title matches or tag bouts on certain house shows until the TV airs in that market.
I also want to make note of the fact that Terry Garvin was managed here by his "younger brother" Jim Garvin, who would have been 19 years old at the time.
