McGuirk Wrestling Territory: Week of 1/10/72-1/16/72
For the week ending January 16th, 1972: full lineups for 16 known house shows during the week including four separate crews working smaller towns on Saturday & more!
Here's a look at the talent roster along with SPOT ratings and FEUD scores for the week.
Other wrestlers advertised for shows this week but not listed in the SPOT ratings: Buddy Austin, Jim Garvin, John Gagne, Tom Bradley, The Viking and women wrestlers Donna Christantello (Christianello), Sandy Parker, Susan Green, Toni Rose and Vicki Williams. In the case of Garvin, he's primarily serving as Terry Garvin's manager at this time, but worked occasional tag matches and handicap matches. The women worked exclusively in battle royals during this two-week run; their SPOT Ratings were about a .57, putting them in the mid-card category in similar spots as Bob Boyer and Chuck Karbo.
Chuck Karbo returned to the territory this week for the first time since the previous June. He did a tour of Japan for IWE in July and then worked in Portland and Vancouver for the rest of 1971.
John Gagne finished up in the territory this week. His next known whereabouts are in Portland in October 1972.
As mentioned last week, Vic Muehler returned to the area and promptly turned babyface; this week is the first week he's wrestling on the babyface "side", which is reflected in the SPOT Ratings chart above.
I have lineups for 16 house shows this week, with 2 shows each night Monday through Friday, four shows on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. Looking at the entire crew, it is very possible that a third show took place on each weeknight, as there are enough wrestlers to put together a show in smaller towns each of those nights. It also depends on how they did their TV at this time, as some of the "missing" wrestlers from the house shows during the week may have been taping TV somewhere. But it really is amazing to see the number of shows run each and every night of the week and to realize how much work went into running the territory.
