Here's a look at the McGuirk wrestling territory in March 1972: Danny Hodge regains the NWA World Junior Heavyweight title from Doctor X, Ken Mantell and Eric the Red move up the cards, the US Tag Team titles change hands, The Stomper (non-Mongolian version) debuts & more!

Newcomers this month:
Babyfaces Argentina Zuma and Terry Lathan
These appear to be Zuma's first matches since December 1968 when he was in Mid-Atlantic. It's possible he was wrestling in Argentina or somewhere else internationally, but I have no further information on his whereabouts through 1969-1971. Lathan (sometimes spelled Latham but not to be confused with Larry Latham) wrestled a handful of bouts on McGuirk's Louisiana shows earlier in the year, which appear to be his first pro bouts after initially training under Pancho Villa (aka Roberto Pico) and then coming to Louisiana with Bob Boyer to further his training.
Heels Guillotine Gordon, Jack Evans, Mark Starr and The Stomper
Gordon (aka Evil Eye Gordon and Enforcer Luciano) had most recently wrestled in Georgia the previous September. Evans, who also wrestled as The Great Gama (but is not Gama Singh), came in from the WWWF. Starr, brother of Ricki Starr, came in from East Texas. Stomper came in from Stampede, where he had wrestled as John Quinn; he also used the name The Kentucky Butcher in the northeast.
Leaving the territory this month:
Babyfaces Buddy Austin and Bobby Whitlock
Austin went to Gulf Coast while Whitlock next shows up in Mid-Atlantic in May.
Heels Billy Hamilton and Tom Bradley
Hamilton shows up in Gulf Coast in June. It appears that Bradley retired; he had been wrestling since the mid-1940s, spending most of the last decade bouncing back-and-forth between here, Florida and Mid-Atlantic.
Other wrestlers not listed in the SPOT Ratings:
Bob Clay, Herb Hagan, Jim Garvin, Ken Nichols, Rick Renaldo and women wrestlers Betty Niccoli and Patsy Kelly. Niccoli and Kelly were in for a week and a half. Clay had been a full-time wrestler (originally trained by Leroy McGuirk) for about a decade beginning in the late 1940s, then worked for McGuirk as a local promoter in Joplin MO and Wichita Falls TX. Once or twice a year, Clay would do an angle that led to him getting back in the ring to get revenge on the heels. This time, his foil was Jim Garvin, the 19-year old manager and "younger brother" of Terry Garvin. On March 2nd in Wichita Falls, Clay and Jim were handcuffed together at ringside during the Bill Watts vs Terry Garvin main event. This led to a special Clay vs Jim match the following week, with Clay vowing to donate $100 to charity if he couldn't defeat Jim in 3 minutes or less.

Here are the week-by-week Rankings for the month.
Hot: Babyfaces Dale Lewis and Ken Mantell and heel Eric the Red. Lewis and Eric both debuted in the Top 10 Rankings the week of March 5th, and by the end of the month Eric was ranked 5th and Lewis 7th. Dale was turned heel at some point during the month, though it appears it took several weeks for it to play out across the territory. The first week of April is the first week where he is positioned as a heel in most of the towns going forward. Mantell was moved up the cards pretty significantly in March. The week of February 27th his SPOT Rating was a .55 and four weeks later it was a .91, making him a Main Eventer.
Not: Heels Chuck Karbo and Terry Garvin. While Karbo's SPOT Rating didn't actually drop all that much, several wrestlers moved ahead of him in the Rankings and he dropped out of the Top 10 by the end of the month. Garvin is clearly being de-emphasized after being a main eventer dating back to the previous summer; he dropped to 6th in the Rankings by the end of the month after being ranked #1 as late as mid-February.
Role Changes: Ivan Putski & Ken Mantell formed a tag team at the beginning of the month. Karbo & Bob Sweetan also teamed up on a few occasions, but they were still primarily booked as singles wrestlers for most of March. Putski & Mantell and Billy Red Lyons & Tom Jones took turns taking on Bobby Hart & Lorenzo Parente while the other duo would take often on a makeshift heel team. It appears that Putski & Mantell were given some wins over Hart & Parente to build them up as logical challengers prior to the heel duo winning the US Tag Team titles.
Title Changes: As referenced above, Bobby Hart & Lorenzo Parente defeated Billy Red Lyons & Tom Jones to win the US Tag Team titles on March 21st in Monroe. That same day in Little Rock, The Stomper appears to have won the Brass Knucks title from Bill Watts. The Brass Knucks title was sporadically defended/acknowledged; online title histories list Watts as having been champ since at least August of 1971. On March 20th in Shreveport, Danny Hodge regained the NWA World Junior Heavyweight title from Doctor X; it's worth noting that he won the bout by disqualification but was still awarded the title. It's possible the "disqualification rule" was waived for the match, as a previous title bout between them saw X intentionally pitch Hodge over the top rope to get disqualified. Watts appears to have held the North American title throughout the month. Title history sites list The Stomper as winning the title from Watts at some point during the month, but I haven't seen any evidence of this. It's possible they're conflating Stomper's Brass Knucks title win into a North American title change as well.

The Eric-Muehler match in Lafayette had the added stipulation that if Muehler won, he would get a match with Swayze.
